Canadian weather is all over the map: frost one day, heatwave the next. Why shouldn’t your home be ready for both?

As Canadians, we’re pros at dealing with changing seasons and unpredictable temperatures. But while we’ve learned to embrace challenging climates, our homes should be a pro at keeping up too… maybe even better.

That’s where Moovair comes in.

Jennifer and Paolo Cardamone live in a stunning 120-year-old home in Caledonia, Ont.,—full of history but not exactly built for modern-day climate control.

“Being in a 120-year-old house, we wanted to be able to keep the character of it. Adding additional ductwork and adding vents was not a part of the plan,” said Jennifer.

With three floors in total, the rooms on the ground floor became unbearably hot during the summer months. This made summer entertaining with friends and family -or even just relaxing there as a couple, very limited. And honestly, who wants to only be able to use part of their own house?

“There were rooms we stopped using entirely because in the summer, it was just too hot,” Paolo explained.

Instead of giving up on the space, they looked for a solution that would solve their house pains without gutting their home’s original parts.

One of the best parts of a Moovair heat pump is its flexible, low-impact installation. Most systems can be installed in just a day or two, with minimal disruption, no major construction, and no bulky ductwork.

“Canadians are embracing heat pumps at a new level since 2020. We are putting them in all types of homes and being requested on a regular basis.” said Andrew Vasilak, HVAC expert with Hamco Heating and Cooling.

Whether you're retrofitting an older home, renovating a cottage, or upgrading a new build, heat pumps are designed to adapt to your lifestyle. With Moovair now installed, Paolo and Jennifer are rediscovering "old" neglected areas of their home that they had avoided for entire seasons due to extreme temperatures.

“Even in the shoulder seasons when the temperature fluctuates, this keeps it nice and steady. We adjust it, set it, and forget it,” explained Paolo. “If I were to pick one word to describe how the heat pump changed our life? I would say relief,” he concluded.

How Does it All Work? The Science Behind The Heat Pump

Heat pumps don’t create heat—they move it.

Heat pumps provide an efficient solution for year-round home comfort by moving heat instead of generating it. In the summer, they cool your home by expelling indoor heat. During winter, they extract warmth from the outside air even when temperatures drop well below freezing. That’s some serious cold, but heat pumps handle it without breaking a sweat. They can keep working effectively in extreme temperatures as low as -25 or even -30 degrees. This process leads to lower energy bills and reduced emissions.

Comfort That Matches the Forecast

One of the biggest perks of heat pumps? Flexibility. Whether you're in a historic home without ductwork, a modern condo, or renovating a cottage, heat pumps adapt to your space. You don’t need bulky vents or major renovations. The system consists of two units: a compact indoor unit that can be mounted discreetly above a door frame and a corresponding outdoor unit. Both feature sleek, modern designs that blend seamlessly with any home style. They’re easy to install, easy to move, and built to make heating and cooling simple and stylish, no matter where you live.
